White Water Rafting

Ms. Altis greeted us with a Pic-Nic dinner. Because of the rain we nixed the idea of pic-nicing at the state park and just relaxed on her porch. The View from the Main Look Out at the Grandview National Park was beautiful. We all laughed at the Seusical Musical and can't wait to pull out our childhood favorite books to relive the play.

The New River Gorge is Gorgeous view from the look out point ... and we were ready to get down there and Raft it! .... Well some of us were more ready than others.

Keith found the "bear proof" trash cans to be most interesting. He also found evidence of bears in the area. He will have to elaborate.

We met some Mountain Men, or Mountain Men want to be's.....

And Rick James - Super Freak!

Micah and Wesley drove up from SC just in time to grab a nap and jump in the raft. Daniel's cousins Anna, John, Clint and Kelly all joined us making it an even 12. We boarded the somewhat scary bus and headed to the River.

Someone had a little accident before we even got to the water. Can you identify the knee?

Raft: Stephen, Keith, Kelly, Clint, Micah and Wesley.

Raft: Daniel, Paula, Sandra, Keith, Anna and John

We rafted, enjoyed the beautiful views and some swam rapids and jumped off of a 16 foot rock into the river.

We were excited to have survived the adventure and more importantly to be able to put on dry clothes and warm up. brrrrr!

After warming up and resting a bit we headed to Odd for a weenie roast hosted by Daniel's Aunt and Uncle. We finished up the night with Yummy Smores.

On Sunday we completed our S.S. lesson from "Get out of the Boat" (how appropriate) and attended church at Mountain View Baptist. Ms. Altis then filled our bellies with delicious lasagna and we celebrated the July Birthdays (Keith Huggins, Paula and Daniel).

We had a wonderful weekend!
